80% by 2018 surpasses 500 pledges!

The 80% by 2018 colorectal cancer screening initiative reached an extraordinary milestone on October 23rd when the 500th organization committed to substantially reducing colorectal cancer as a major public health problem. The goal of the national initiative is to reach 80% of adults age 50 and older screened for colorectal cancer by 2018.

“Two years ago, did anyone ever imagine that the nation would unite around the goal of achieving 80% colorectal cancer screening rates by the end of 2018? Probably not,” said Richard Wender, MD, Chief Cancer Control Officer of the American Cancer Society and NCCRT Chair. “But when Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans signed the pledge to work to achieve this goal, they became the 500th organization to sign the 80% by 2018 goal, and over 30 more organizations have signed the pledge since then. All of us working together can achieve something amazing.”

The NCCRT would like to thank all of our incredible partners who have pledged their commitment to 80% by 2018 and are rallying other organizations to embrace this shared goal.
