80% in Every Community National Achievement Awards
2025 Nominations Now Open
Nominations close on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11:59pm ET
The 80% in Every Community National Achievement Awards is a program designed to recognize individuals and organizations who are dedicating their time, talent and expertise to advancing needed initiatives that support the shared goal to reach colorectal screening rates of 80% and higher in communities across the nation. More than 1,800 organizations – including medical professional societies, academic centers, survivor groups, government agencies, cancer coalitions, cancer centers, payers, and many others – have signed a pledge to make this goal a priority. This program seeks to highlight the work of 80% partners and other leaders and organizations who are advancing this important goal.
Colorectal cancer is the second most common cause of death from cancer in men and women in the United States and a cause of considerable suffering among more than 150,000 adults diagnosed with colorectal cancer each year. The good news is that when adults get screened for colorectal cancer, it can be detected early at a stage when treatment is most likely to be successful, and in some cases, it can be prevented through the detection and removal of precancerous polyps. More than 1 in 3 adults ages 45 and older are not getting screened as recommended.
80% in Every Community is an American Cancer Society National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable initiative in which more than 1,800 organizations have committed to substantially reduce colorectal cancer through screening – making our collective achievements the next big public health success story.
