American Cancer Society Releases Annual Cancer Statistics Report
Overall Cancer Mortality Continues to Decline, but Cancer Patients are Getting Younger
Cancer Statistics, 2024, an American Cancer Society annual report released yesterday, shows colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer death in men and the second in women under 50 years old, among other trends. The report projects that in 2024, an estimated 106,590 cases of colon cancer and 46,220 cases of rectal cancer will be diagnosed in the US, and a total of 53,010 people will die from these cancers. Our work to advance quality, on-time colorectal cancer screening is as critical as ever. We hope you plan to join us for our upcoming webinar to learn about recent market research on how to motivate individuals at average and heightened risk for colorectal cancer to discuss screening prior to the recommended screening age. New Lead Time Messaging Guidebook: A Tool to Encourage On-Time Colorectal Cancer Screening
Last month, we announced the release of the ACS NCCRT’s latest resource: Lead Time Messaging Guidebook: A Tool to Encourage On-Time Colorectal Cancer Screening. This guidebook is intended to provide you with information and tools to help motivate individuals at average and heightened risk for colorectal cancer (CRC) to discuss screening prior to the recommended screening age. Our belief is that this will increase the likelihood that they will prioritize getting screened on-time for CRC.
Register for our webinar on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 PM ET to learn more about this new resource and the market research that helped inform this work. The webcast is free and is open to ACS NCCRT members, 80% Pledge partners, CDC grantees, ACS and ACS CAN staff, and other partners working to increase colorectal cancer screening rates. Pre-registration is required.
