Welcome our New NCCRT Chair, Dr. Steven Itzkowitz!

The NCCRT is excited to announce that the membership voted to approve Steven Itzkowitz, MD, FACP, FACG, AGAF as NCCRT’s latest Chair at the 2021 NCCRT Annual Meeting on November 15th. Dr. Itzkowitz is Professor of Medicine, Oncological Sciences, and Medical Education, and Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Itzkowitz has been engaged with the NCCRT for many years, having served as a Steering Committee member and as a recent Co-Chair of the Family History & Early Age Onset CRC Strategic Priority Team. He’s held numerous leadership positions, including as a current member of the President’s Cancer Panel Subcommittee on Colorectal Cancer Screening, a former Chair of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Section of the American Gastroenterological Association, and past Co-Chair of the New York Citywide Colon Cancer Control Coalition (“C5 Coalition”). Learn more about Dr. Itzkowitz.

Dr. Itzkowitz shared: “I am indeed honored and humbled to assume the Chair of the NCCRT, an organization that I have been privileged to be part of for so many years. With the impressive support team of NCCRT, I look forward to working our butts off to reduce the burden of colorectal cancer in every community.”

And for those of you that were not able to attend NCCRT’s meeting earlier this month, we want to assure you that Dr. Richard Wender, recent past NCCRT Chair, intends to remain very much engaged with the NCCRT in the role of “chair emeritus” on the Steering Committee. We look forward to his continued engagement with our work and thank him for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to increasing colorectal cancer screening.
