Blue Star Conversation: April 15, 2025

Modeling the Impact of Colorectal Cancer Screening and Timely Follow-Up Colonoscopy: Recent Data from the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET)
Explore Findings from a New Modeling Study on Colorectal Cancer Screening and Outcomes
We are excited to announce our upcoming Blue Star Conversation, a series of one-hour programs that feature a brief and topical presentation or interview followed by small group member discussions and regrouping for key takeaways.
Register to join fellow ACS NCCRT members on Tuesday, April 15th from 12:00-1:00 PM ET for: “Modeling the impact of colorectal cancer screening and timely follow-up colonoscopy: Recent data from the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET).” The program will feature an introduction and moderation by Molly McDonnell, Vice President of Advocacy, Fight Colorectal Cancer, current ACS NCCRT Steering Committee member and ACS NCCRT Policy Action Strategic Priority Team co-chair, followed by a presentation. The presentation will highlight late-breaking data from the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET), a consortium of NCI-sponsored investigators that includes modeling to improve our understanding of the impact of cancer control interventions on population trends in incidence and mortality.
The yet-to-be-published data estimates CRC cases and deaths prevented with a 10-percentage point increase in CRC screening by modality (colonoscopy, fecal immunochemical test [FIT], Multitargeted stool DNA, blood test), as well as CRC deaths prevented with an increase in uptake of timely follow-up colonoscopy to an initial non-colonoscopy CRC screening test. Participants will also learn about Fight CRC’s new CRC Care Initiative and how the data is being used to inform this effort. After the presentation, participants will have an opportunity to discuss implications of the data, including how findings can be used to inform CRC prevention and control strategies.
Registration is open to ACS NCCRT members and CDC’s Colorectal Cancer Control Program and Comprehensive Cancer Control Program grantees.
