Lynch Syndrome Awareness Day is March 21st
Lynch Syndrome is the Most Common Cause of Hereditary Colorectal Cancer
On Friday, March 21st, we recognize Lynch Syndrome Awareness Day and honor those who have been affected by this condition. Limited or inaccurate family history collection and risk assessment is a major barrier to successful colorectal cancer screening. Find tips and tools in the ACS NCCRT’s Risk Assessment and Screening Toolkit to Detect Familial, Hereditary and Early Onset Colorectal Cancer. Visit the American Cancer Society website to learn about the syndrome and guidelines for genetic testing.
New American Cancer Society Colorectal Cancer Screening Learning Opportunity
Register Now to Join the Virtual ECHO Learning Community
Launching on March 29, the American Cancer Society, UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center, and New Mexico Department of Health are hosting the New Mexico Colorectal Cancer Screening ECHO. This program aims to improve delivery and uptake of colorectal cancer screening, ensure diagnostic follow-up, and navigate individuals to appropriate treatment services, especially among communities experiencing health care inequities. Clinicians, staff, and community health workers at medical care clinics and community-based organizations are invited to join this ECHO. While select sessions will focus specifically on colorectal cancer screening in New Mexico, the majority of the content is not state-specific and learners in any state are welcome to register. Registration is FREE but is required. If you have questions or want more information, please contact Rachel Davis at [email protected] or Allison Rosen at [email protected].
