NCCRT/AARP Colorectal Cancer Screening Education Session
The Roundtable and AARP co-sponsored two “Teletown Halls” to educate AARP members about the importance of colorectal cancer screening. The first call took place on March 16th, 2011 and invited AARP members between the ages of 65 and 74 to listen in to an hour-long educational session about colorectal cancer screening.
The second “Teletown Hall” took place on September 8th, 2011 and invited AARP members between the ages of 50 and 64 to listen in.
Guest speakers Dr. Alan Thorson, the Immediate Past President of the American Cancer Society, and Bob Brady, a colorectal cancer survivor and Colon Cancer Alliance advocate from Illinois, delivered an informative and moving session about the importance of screening. Margaret Hawkins, an AARP volunteer, served as moderator.
