Welcome to the latest edition of CRC News, the American Cancer Society National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (ACS NCCRT) newsletter for ACS NCCRT members and partners working together to save more lives from colorectal cancer.

Now Open: ACS NCCRT Steering Committee Nominations

Nominate Someone or Yourself to Help Guide the Future of the ACS NCCRT

Nominations are now open for the ACS NCCRT Steering Committee and due by 11:59pm ET on Monday, September 22, 2025. This dedicated group guides our mission to reduce the incidence of and mortality from colorectal cancer (CRC) in the US through coordinated leadership, strategic planning, and advocacy.

We are seeking passionate leaders – whether established or emerging – to bring their expertise, diverse perspectives, and commitment to health equity to the roundtable. Steering Committee members come from a broad range of backgrounds and provide strategic guidance through their knowledge of and connectivity to professional and advocacy organizations, health care policy, and state-based coalitions. Steering Committee members serve an initial two-year term, with the option to renew once.

Who can be nominated?

You can nominate yourself or a colleague from an ACS NCCRT member organization. Representatives from Corporate or Affiliate member organizations cannot serve but may nominate others.

Why serve?

Steering Committee members play a vital role in driving ACS NCCRT priorities, representing us in the field, shaping national meetings and projects, and helping recruit future leaders. Learn more about the responsibilities, time commitment, and selection process here.

If you’re interested in nominating yourself or someone else, please submit by 11:59pm ET, September 22, 2025. If nominating a colleague, please allow time for them to complete their materials before the deadline.

New ACS NCCRT Publication: “Knowledge, Attitudes, and Perceptions Around CRC Screening and Risk Among 20-49 Year Olds”

The Article Was Recently Published in Digestive Diseases and Sciences

The ACS NCCRT is excited to announce that a manuscript developed with funding from the roundtable titled, “Knowledge, Attitudes, and Perceptions around Colorectal Cancer Screening and Risk Among 20-49 Year Olds”, was accepted and published in Digestive Diseases and Sciences earlier this month. The research outlined in this article laid the foundation for our widely used Lead Time Messaging Guidebook, helping practitioners and partners improve on-time CRC screening among younger adults. Together, the article and guidebook serve as complementary resources that simplify access to evidence-based messaging strategies.

The ACS NCCRT would like to thank authors Timothy Yen, Paul Schroy, Heather Hampel, Michelle Aubertine, Whitney Jones, and Swati G. Patel for their expertise and help in getting this important journal article published.

2025 ACS NCCRT Annual Meeting Updates

The ACS NCCRT Will Gather its Members in Nashville This November

The ACS NCCRT’s annual meeting of the membership features presentations by nationally known experts, thought leaders, and decision makers on CRC research, policy and service delivery, with opportunities to network and learn from each other. Our 2025 ACS NCCRT Annual Meeting will take place November 19-21 in Nashville, TN.

ACS NCCRT member organizations and corporate associates are invited to send up to two member representatives to the meeting as part of their benefits and we expect to launch registration in the next week or two. We have created an Annual Meeting FAQ for members to get acquainted with the upcoming registration process.

New Opportunity: ACS Primary Care Clinical Champion Corps

The New Corps is Seeking Volunteers to Educate and Motivate Other Clinicians

Are you a primary care MD, DO, NP, or PA passionate about increasing cancer early detection, especially in communities with lower screening rates? Consider joining the American Cancer Society’s Primary Care Clinical Champion Corps – a national network of clinician volunteers who educate and motivate their peers to implement proven early detection practices.

Volunteers commit to one hour per month for peer-to-peer champion training and engagement sessions. You’ll also have the opportunity to present to fellow primary care clinicians within your practice, medical neighborhood, state, or even nationally based on your availability.

Being an ACS volunteer is a rewarding opportunity and a chance to amplify the potential of early detection to save lives.

Funding Opportunity: Fight Colorectal Cancer’s Catalyst Applications Open

The Catalyst Advocacy Program Supports Grassroots Activities and State Coalition Building

Applications are now open for Fight Colorectal Cancer’s (Fight CRC’s) Catalyst State Advocacy Program. The Catalyst Program supports grassroots activities and coalition-building at the state level for legislative and policy changes to increase access to colorectal cancer screening. Since inception in 2019, over 20 Catalyst grantees have utilized their grants to advance legislation ensuring no-cost coverage for follow-up coloscopy after an abnormal non-invasive screening test; harmonize screening modality and age recommendations with nationally recognized standards; and secure funding for colorectal cancer screening in their state budgets. Visit Fight CRC’s website to learn more about the program and how to apply. Applications are open through September 26, 2025. For any questions, please reach out to Fight CRC’s State Policy Manager, Shahryar Baig at [email protected].
