Welcome to this special edition of CRC News, the American Cancer Society National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (ACS NCCRT) newsletter for ACS NCCRT members and partners working toward our shared goal to reach 80% in Every Community. This edition will highlight events, resources, and opportunities that members and partners would like to highlight this March for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.


ACS NCCRT: Register for the 2025 National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Webcast 

Celebrate National Achievements and Hear the Latest State of the Field Updates 

Registration is open for our annual National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month webcast, set for Wednesday, March 12 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET. The webcast celebrates national achievements and covers the latest state of the field updates that inform our work related to colorectal cancer. Pre-registration is required. 


American Cancer Society: Colorectal Cancer Resources for Patients and Providers 

The ACS NCCRT Has Compiled Relevant American Cancer Society Resources on Its Website 

The American Cancer Society (ACS) offers evidence-based, understandable, and actionable resources to help healthcare teams educate and empower their patients and caregivers. Visit our new ACS resources webpage to find resources for health care professionals and for patients. Highlights include a ready-to-use PowerPoint presentation include on basic facts, risk factors, and prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer as well as a new comprehensive cancer risk assessment tool for patients.  


C4: Screen Your Gut Save Your Butt Run/Walk to Defeat Colorectal Cancer 

This San Diego, CA Based Event Takes Place on March 29, 2025 

This California Colorectal Cancer Coalition (C4) event is a family-friendly run (walkers welcomed & encouraged) aimed to raise awareness about colorectal cancer. The event is designed to draw media attention, give survivors a voice, and help people understand the importance of screening for colorectal cancer. Learn more and register.  


Colorectal Cancer Alliance: Project Cure CRC Request for Proposals Renewed 

Project Cure CRC Provides Funding for Research

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance (Alliance) has been spearheading breakthrough advancements through its Project Cure CRC research initiative, which has now renewed its request for proposals. To date, 275 grant proposals have been received and 22 proposals have been approved totaling $10.5 million in awards for innovative colorectal cancer research. This past December, the Alliance convened top scientists at its Cure CRC Summit, and unveiled K-SPY, a groundbreaking multi-center platform trial for high-risk colorectal cancer cases. Colorectal Cancer Alliance: March Volunteer Guide 

Anyone Can Use the Guide to Increase Awareness Around CRC 

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance (Alliance) created this training video for volunteers to learn how to activate in March for National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The guide includes tips and downloadable resources to: 

  • Connect with your community through local activities 
  • Raise awareness by reaching out to media and securing coverage 
  • Support those impacted by CRC by distributing comfort bags at local cancer centers, and more

Colon Cancer Coalition: Get Your Rear in Gear Events 

There are Multiple Ways to Get Involved in Different Communities Across the Country 

The Colon Cancer Coalition is hosting eight Get Your Rear in Gear 5K run/walk events and four additional community events in March to bring awareness for colorectal cancer and raise money to support local screening efforts. Dress in Blue to Promote Colorectal Cancer Awareness 

Bring Awareness to the Disease on Friday, March 7th  

Dress in blue on Friday, March 7th to raise awareness for colorectal cancer. Be sure to take a photo and include the hashtag #DressInBlueDay on social media. Learn more and see past Dress in Blue Day photos and videos from the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.  


Fight Colorectal Cancer: Colorectal Cancer Care Initiative 

Partners Can Sign onto the Initiative to Improve CRC Outcomes Across the Continuum 

Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC) recently launched the Colorectal Cancer Care Initiative, an effort dedicated to improving colorectal cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment. The Initiative set a series of ambitious, actionable goals that build on the ACS NCCRT’s 80% in Every Community campaign and serve as tools for health systems and the CRC community to assess progress, identify gaps and make meaningful progress. To reach these goals it will require stakeholders across the CRC community working together. Fight CRC is inviting organizations to join the Colorectal Cancer Care Initiative. By joining the Initiative, it is an endorsement of the goals and commitment to being a part of reaching them. SECRC Consortium: Registration Open for Its Annual Conference 

The Regional Conference Will Take Place in Savannah, GA  

The Southeastern Colorectal Cancer Consortium is pleased to announce that its 9th Annual Conference will take place from June 11-13, 2025 in Savannah, GA and that registration is now open. To view more information, including the room block, visit their website.

Learn About Public Awareness Opportunities in Preparation for March and Celebrate Our Volunteers 

  • The latest ACS NCCRT webinar, which took place last Wednesday, February 5, highlights how four diverse community organizations and health systems developed innovative public awareness strategies to promote timely colorectal cancer screening in the communities they serve. View the recording and slides.  
  • In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the ACS NCCRT staff prepared a blog highlighting our volunteers’ efforts over the past year.
