The American Cancer Society National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (NCCRT) is a national coalition of public, private, and voluntary organizations whose mission is to advance colorectal cancer control efforts by improving communication, coordination, and collaboration among health agencies, medical-professional organizations, and the public. The ultimate goal of the ACS NCCRT is to increase the use of proven colorectal cancer screening tests among the entire population for whom screening is appropriate.

It takes many voices to create an effective coalition – a coalition committed to increasing the prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer. The ACS NCCRT is comprised of Member Organizations and invited individuals who reflect a broad involvement in colorectal cancer prevention and early detection. We appreciate the strong, heartfelt interest many individuals feel in their desire to work toward the elimination of suffering from colorectal cancer. The ACS NCCRT is an organization in which the membership is made up primarily of other organizations. Individual members are the exception, and we aren’t really geared toward individual advocacy efforts. While ACS NCCRT membership is not a perfect fit for most individuals, individuals should feel free to get in touch with Member Organizations, such as, the American Cancer Society, the Colon Cancer Alliance, or Fight Colorectal Cancer, which are better suited to putting the energy of individuals to good use.

You can send a check made out to the American Cancer Society and be sure to put “National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable” in the memo line. The Blue Star raises awareness about how to prevent colorectal cancer, the nation’s third-leading cause of cancer death in both men and women. The Roundtable encourages organizations to incorporate the Blue Star and the universal message that colorectal cancer is preventable, treatable, and beatable into their communications and awareness efforts. The Blue Star colorectal cancer symbol is free and available for all to use. It is not necessary to seek permission to use it from the American Cancer Society or the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable. We ask that you abide by the usage guidelines in order to maintain the impact of the symbol, and also that the symbol not be trademarked. When the blue star logo was created, the ACS NCCRT made a business decision not to trademark the symbol with the hope that colon cancer organizations around the world would use it, and it would become like the pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness and the red ribbon for AIDS awareness.
