Learn About the Cost-Effectiveness of CRC Screening for Those With Lynch Syndrome

We are excited to announce our upcoming Blue Star Conversation, a series of one-hour programs featuring a brief, timely presentation or interview followed by small-group discussions and a reconvening to share key takeaways.

Join fellow ACS NCCRT members on Wednesday, August 26 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET for: “Cost-effectiveness of Lynch Syndrome Screening in Colorectal Cancer: Universal Germline vs Sequential Screening.” The program will be introduced and moderated by Heather Hampel, MS, CGC, Associate Director of the Division of Clinical Cancer Genomics and Professor in the Department of Medical Oncology & Therapeutics Research at City of Hope, and will feature a presentation by Xavier Llor, MD, PhD, Professor of Medicine and Director, GI and Pancreatic Cancer Prevention Program, Digestive Diseases, at Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Llor will discuss findings from a recent study evaluating the cost-effectiveness of three Lynch syndrome (LS) screening strategies for patients with colorectal cancer (CRC): current standard practice, an optimized screening pathway, and universal upfront germline testing. The study found that interventions that increase LS testing rates or implement universal germline testing can be cost-effective approaches that improve quality-adjusted life expectancy and identify more individuals with Lynch syndrome. This year’s theme, “30 Years of Impact: Charting the Next Chapter in Colorectal Cancer”, celebrates the Roundtable’s significant contributions over the past three decades and we want to hear from our members about their favorite ACS NCCRT memories. Take a moment to reflect and share your most impactful takeaways from Roundtable meetings, photos, and relationships formed through this form. Selected quotes and photos will be featured at the meeting in November. The form will close on August 31 and additional details, including agenda, registration information and how to book your hotel will, be shared in this newsletter and on the event webpage in the coming weeks.

Applications Open: ACS Primary Care Clinical Champion Corps 

The Program is Looking for Primary Care Clinicians to Apply and Help Educate Their Peers 

The ACS Primary Care Clinical Champion Corps is a program for primary care clinicians (MDs, DOs, PAs, and NPs). Participants will receive training, resources, and peer-to-peer engagement to help educate and motivate clinical peers to activate cancer prevention and early detection knowledge and interventions. Sessions, which begin in September 2026, will include discussions on barriers and strategies to educate clinical peers on early detection focus areas and highlight educational resources. Registration for the sessions is open until August 25, 2026. 

Navigation Reimbursement PIN Pulse Survey Is Open

The ACS National Navigation Roundtable is Seeking Input From Partners

The Navigation Reimbursement Principal Illness Navigation Codes (PIN) Pulse Survey is currently open, and we encourage you to take a few minutes to share your organization’s experiences and perspectives across all stages of reimbursement implementation. Whether your organization has already adopted navigation billing codes, is exploring future opportunities, or is just beginning to learn about reimbursement pathways, your insights are critical to understanding the current landscape.

The ACS National Navigation Roundtable (ACS NNRT) wants to hear from:

• Organizations currently billing for navigation services
• Organizations planning to implement navigation billing codes
• Organizations not currently pursuing reimbursement strategies
• Organizations seeking information about navigation reimbursement opportunities

The findings from this survey will help inform the ACS NNRT’s ongoing efforts to support navigation sustainability, identify common challenges and successes, and better understand the evolving reimbursement environment for patient navigation services.

• There is a new blog highlighting the work of our 2026 National Achievement Awards Grand Prize Winner, ScreeND at Mountain Pacific, formerly Quality Health Associates of North Dakota. Read the blog to learn more about how they reached more than 64,000 people and saw a 30% improvement in CRC screening rates.  
• The ACS is hosting a webinar titled, “Emerging Strategies in Early Detection: Expanding the CRC Screening Toolbox with Blood-Based Screening” on July 28, from 3-4pm ET. To learn more and register, visit this page.
